I will continue to offer Bowen Therapy as it is such a beautiful and beneficial modality to treat the physical symptoms we all experience from time to time. Whether it's an injury or something that's been hanging around for longer that it should, Bowen Therapy treats the dysfunction of the nervous system which causes the aches and pains we feel making it a treatment that has lasting benefits. I will also be including reiki and intuitive healing treatments which focus more on the energetic and emotional balance of the body. These help us to align our thoughts and emotions and bring what has been hidden in our subconscious into the conscious mind where it can be cleared, give us a new perspective of the things that have been holding us back and healed. You will see this name if you follow the links to book and my social media pages have had a name change and I will continue to update BlueSkyHealing.com.au if you'd like to visit there as well.

Boundaries are an important self care tool and the most supportive thing you can do is maintain your energy and stay well so that you have the ability to give of yourself in a way that reflects your idea of healthy, supportive relationships.
Self care is about "filling your cup" and taking care of yourself while boundaries are the secure knowledge around where we end and others begin. We are responsible for the accumulative experiences we hold within our thoughts, emotions and bodies that are ours and continually influence the way we perceive the world and how we respond to it. All the "stuff" that makes us uniquely us and carries us through life contributing to the world in a way that only we can. This is the "stuff" we are responsible for. And knowing the boundary where other peoples stuff begins and our stuff ends can make a big difference to how we feel. Whenever your life is limited by the emotional needs of others, restricted by the actions of others and feeling that others demand too much from you are signs that those lines are blurred and boundaries have been crossed. For example;
Many people pass through our lives every day in our thoughts, our daily lives and the interactions we have in person or online. Imagine if every person took a piece of you for themselves with each of those interactions. You would feel depleted, unwell and not quite your (whole) self. This is where one of my clients found herself. Feeling depleted, taking on the "stuff" of others which showed up in her life as physical symptoms, feeling extremely tired and agitated regardless of what was happening in her day. The thought of doing anything for herself seemed so difficult yet she spoke of the things she had shared with others and given so freely. Through kindness and a willingness to nurture others she had forgotten to take care of herself. She had lost her shine, depleted herself and felt pulled in all directions. She had allowed others to take a piece of her special-ness to give them a boost, heal them and provide the joy that had been missing in their lives until she showed up with her light shining brightly. She needed an energetic clearing, cleansing, polishing and brightening. A boost to remind her of her innate nature. Her message was to seal in what you need before you go out into the world and not to give too much of yourself away. She had more to give when not scattered in all directions and her strength and power came from focusing her energy on where it was needed most, instead of the pushing and pulling that was currently happening. We can feel torn by becoming part of someone else's world because we don't belong there. Maybe a short visit for support but a prolonged stay isn't helpful to anyone long term. We are much better equipped to give to others when we are whole and have the ability to choose where we give our gifts of time, energy or emotional support. There is also the gift of allowing others to take responsibility for themselves and their situation and finding solutions that best reflects them and their place in the world. We can deplete ourselves and solve problems for them or we can allow them to discover their truth while we hold space and support them while the integrity of their experience is not diminished by anyone else's (over) involvement. Allowing others to grow through their experiences, mistakes, accomplishments, challenges and finding their own joy shows them how much you value them and trust their ability to find their way. Personal boundaries allow us the space to be our unique selves while giving and sharing within respectful, caring relationships. If you are feeling torn, depleted, dull or lifeless you may need to work on your boundaries and I'm happy to help you with that in a way that strengthens you and maintains healthy relationships. Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to figure out the how's and whys of our hurts from the past we wear ourselves out. We get trapped in a cycle of needing to figure things out and put up walls to protect ourselves so that we are wiser and smarter, ensuring we won't find ourselves travelling down that path again, especially when we recognise old hurts that we can see dotted along along the road. The trouble is we may never 'know'. We may never know why someone behaved the way they did. We may never how they felt and it may be something that even if we did know it wouldn't help us heal. It might just add another painful chapter to the mix. The truth is, the struggles of others has nothing to do with us. All we can do is to forgive them. Even if we feel hurt by their actions or words. We may never understand them. We may never know why they did whatever it was they chose, either consciously or unconsciously, to do but we can forgive them. That's our choice. In this moment now, we can choose forgiveness. Forgiveness takes the weight from our heart and allows it to flow. Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice for forgiveness and reconciliation. Forgiveness is fundamental to the practice, along with repentance, gratitude, and love which is given and shared freely. If someone's struggles are challenging you this mantra may help you to shift your perspective to forgiveness rather than blame, gratitude rather pain and invite an inclusive love that no-one needs protection from. It's short. It's easy. It's powerful... and it goes like this. I am sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you. Love expands when it is given freely and shared. Love is yours to give and share but not ours to have. We can't hold it, store in on a shelf and bring it out for special occasions. If we keep it to ourselves it diminishes in value and is no good to anyone, including ourselves. We're protected, but we're closed off from creating love for ourselves and others. Through giving and sharing love expands. Forgive the past. It's not here now. Live and love in the now. This was a very powerful and unexpected message received during an intuitive healing session. Forgiveness hadn't been considered as a pathway to healing. This message, that I have expanded on, cleared her heart, opened up possibilities that had previously not been considered and integrated the connection between heart and head to move forward with forgiveness. However you chose to look at it there is never an opportunity for growth as when times challenge us. Whether it’s a person, situation or event, the hardest times allow us to choose our response and offer us a view of the world that we may never have had otherwise.
During an intuitive session with a client this week we looked at perspective. The clients view of a long-standing conflict held such power over her. She felt a certain way and every decision she made, conversation she had and time spent with this person was tainted by her view. It was one sided, one dimensional and not very helpful to improving her relationship with this important person in her life but also how she viewed the world beyond that. Changing perspectives became a key focus to her healing. Not only did she need to allow new ideas in but also to be able to move freely, switch her position in way that helped her to see beyond the view she as holding on to. But she was stuck. In Chinese medicine water represents flow and earth represents grounding. We need both but we need them to work together and create productive spaces, otherwise we become stagnant and muddy. This was where my client found herself. With some work on her bladder meridian, which represents free flowing movement and earth energies, to provide a stable base a shift in energy occurred. Sometimes it’s not the situation that is stuck, it’s our attachment to them that remains rigid long after it is useful or beneficial in any way. Allowing for some flexibility in our thoughts and our actions creates a flow and we can naturally find a path that suits us best in the moment, now. Like a stream winding its way around rocks and sandbanks there is a path of least resistance that holds the greatest momentum for us as we move forward in our lives. We need to dip our toes in and explore to feel the flow of life, not stand clinging to the shore. If you’re feeling a bit stuck and ready to create flow in your life you might like to try an intuitive session to allow a new perspective come into view. It’s your session and there will never be anything forced and you will never be pushed into something you aren’t ready to change but there is always a new insight that can change the path you’re on. Please call or contact me if you’d like to know more. Today is World Gratitude Day and while there is so much focus on what we can’t do at the moment and where we find ourselves restricted it may be harder to find gratitude in the places we would normally look.
That’s OK. It just means we need to change our perspective, look a little harder. Look at the world in ways we aren’t used to which might be uncomfortable and might challenge us but that’s OK too. Life is different but there is always something to be grateful for, whether it’s the little things or the life-changing big things. Life will always evolve, grow, change and that in itself something to be grateful for as we meant to change and grow throughout our lives. Sometimes the process is more difficult and seems to challenge us every step of the way, sometimes change is as easy as the ebb and flow of the tide. Natural, flowing and right on time in line with the bigger picture of the moon and the stars, just as nature intended. My life has looked quite different over the past few months but I’ve been grateful for the time to study, learn and develop those intuitive skills that I’ve always had, always been fascinated by and put to the side while “life” happened. The busyness of life is something that I tried to balance but have always felt that running by the clock wasn’t my natural rhythm. Pushed by a schedule and pulled by the clock didn’t leave the energy to lose hours immersed in learning, feeling, developing a touch, a sense, a knowing. Having the time and space to nurture my intuition has been such a blessing along with the tools that my kinesiology studies has provided. My logical brain will always want to know “how” and “why” and there has been the opportunity to explore that a bit more too. Knowing in a logical sense isn’t as important as trusting and for many of us trusting is the more difficult of the two. For those who have experienced an intuitive healing and provided feedback about the changes in your life that have come about after some clearing work has been done and a new perspective brought in energetically, I am immensely grateful to you, not only for trusting me but allowing me to trust myself with this work. The work is gentle, supportive and offers a perspective that may have been difficult when life has a filter of past hurts, struggles and perceptions that are formed about yourself when things haven’t gone so well. Changing the view to one of self love where we are kind to ourselves, know what matters and value ourselves has been an honour to be a part of. I have plenty to be thankful for, even in an uncertain world but I have felt that the world is finding her natural rhythm again, clearing the fog of greed, materialism and vanity so we can have a clear view of what is really important. Loving ourselves and each other in this one world we have is priceless and we have been shown just how important this is. Happy World Gratitude Day TRIBE OF THE TREE IS HERE!
I am very excited to announce that I'm now a stockist of Tribe of the Tree flower essences. They have helped me enormously over the past 18 months but in particular the past few months. So much has changed for me and will continue to change in 2020 as we navigate through a pandemic, l study and practice 2 new healing modalities, launch a new business and website (coming late in the year) and aim to continue to have balance in every aspect of my life. Tribe of the Tree flower essences are sourced from native Australian and international plants with the intention of offering energetic healing, insight and wisdom, delivered with a healthy dose of love and a cheeky attitude. Their purpose is to help you reclaim the profound happiness, connection with source, and reverence for nature that is, and always has been, yours for the taking. I feel so aligned to Tribe of the Tree's philosophy but wanted to experience them fully before I could genuinely recommend them and I do! The philosophy at Tribe of the Tree is simple, yet has far reaching benefits and impacts every area of your life. If you're ready for change and a new perspective flower essences can help you to make the shifts that really make a difference. It's as easy as a few drops a day. Tribe of the Tree is all about connection, love and joy and you are invited to become part of the tribe. Connection to source... We believe that central to many patterns of imbalance is the dis-ease that comes from disconnecting from your spiritual Source. Wherever you find the divine tapping into this pure love and light is always healing and restorative. Prioritise ease, fun & happiness... We've learned (the hard way!) that healing is most effective when it involves a gentle release, a light-hearted touch, and a good belly laugh. Love yourself wholeheartedly... Love is the most important healing balm of all, and everyone on the planet has access to it every moment of every day - for free - because it resides inside each of us. But sadly, this basic human right is something too many people deny themselves, so we're on a mission to show them the light. (So to speak...) Awareness and insight have healing properties... Becoming aware of what's not currently working for you is key to creating change. That's why each of our essences is accompanied by a short story or meditation that expands awareness and helps you connect with the remedy and its effects on your life. Take responsibility for yourself and your future... Our remedies look forward, with an emphasis on where you want to go, not where you've been. They invite you to approach the issues you're facing in a new way, and to embrace life as a joyful adventure that you and you alone are responsible for. I often use the mists during treatments, particularly when there has been an emotional stress contributing to the pain patterns of the body and the client has mentioned it as part of their treatment. I believe that things come up for a reason and the timing is always perfect to clear stresses from the mind and the body, bringing harmony to both. If you'd like to experience the difference please call and we'll find an essence to open up new possibilities for you. The adrenal glands have an important role to play when our body is under stress as they prepare your body for action and shut off the functions that are more 'rest and restore' like digesting food and sleeping until the crisis is over. The adrenal glands produce adrenaline and cortisol as well as small amounts of testosterone and oestrogen and hormones that regulate salt and water in the body. DHEA is also produced in the adrenals and has a protective function on your immunity and brain function. In an emergency this is exactly what we need. We need to run from danger, be alert or shut down and be still until the danger has passed. The problems begin when our minds create emergencies out of every situation. Yes, there are problems, yes there are challenges.. but are they all emergencies where we need to react as if our lives depended on it? And can we maintain that for extended periods of time. Your body can't tell the difference between the types of stress it feels, it just knows when the balance is tipped too far and it's fight or flight system has been activated. Consider your needs, your responses to challenges and how each activity you participate in throughout the day contributes to your well-being or your stress levels. Work within the present moment and bring awareness to it so we can have thoughtfully considered responses to our situation. Exercise, toxicity, lack of sleep and chronic pain and worry can all cause our stress response to heighten and we need to consider if our activities are going to add to our cumulative stress load or return us to a more balanced state. There will always be challenges in our lives and right now and we are all learning new ways of managing ourselves and our daily lives as things change rapidly as is everyone around us. Our response to these challenges will determine how we feel now and into the future. This is a period of mental stress where we need to adapt to change that is, in a lot of ways beyond our control. The thought processes and behavioural patterns that we have relied upon may not serve us so well and we need to adapt and become consciously aware of our new way of life, whether it be for a few weeks of a few months. We don't know how long this will last but we do know that we are required to be present and make decisions based on the here and now because we're not sure how things will look down the track. This can bring up feelings of uncertainty but it can also be seen as an opportunity to reflect on all that we do, assess what we need moving forward and make some changes where they're necessary. This is not the time for perfectionism and control, but creation and consciousness. We can focus on the fear or we can find something to be grateful for, something that brings some calm and appreciation into our day. Celebrate the little wins as we move forward day by day and appreciate all that each day brings. Exercise, especially exercise outdoors in the fresh air, is a great mood booster. Moving your body will help to release endorphins which are our own feel good chemicals that reduce physical stress so do whatever it takes to get your body moving. There's lots of fitness professionals offering online classes so try as many as you can until you find one that feels good and feels right for you. If the main aim of exercise at the moment is to help us to stay well it isn't a good time to make life difficult for ourselves by setting exercise goals that are stressful. We're more likely to give up if it's too hard and too much exercise can be as detrimental to our health as not enough exercise. Excess can compromise our immune system leading to the possibility of reoccurring infection and injuries that are slow to heal. Poor posture and chronically tight muscles also create stress in the body so become aware of your form throughout the day, check your desks if you're working from home, take some time out to stretch and take a deep breath and release those tight neck and shoulders. Put on your favourite tunes and dance like no-ones watching to loosen up joints and muscles throughout the day for an extra endorphin hit or take a walk around the block to clear your head and get moving. Motivation might be difficult but set a timer, make it a part of your routine don't think about it too much and start moving. Challenge yourself to get moving, enjoy it and make it a part of every day. While we're mostly indoors and thinking about creating a germ free environment we need to think about the chemical load our bodies are taking in with the cleaning products and hand sanitisers we're regularly using. While we're home open the doors and windows to allow plenty of ventilation through the house to reduce the chemicals we're breathing in. Those "fresh scents" are tiny toxic chemicals that that affect our hormones and nervous system and need to be reduced wherever possible. As we breathe them in or absorb them through our skin our bodies need to filter them out through our liver, kidneys and lungs, creating an unnecessary burden on these organs. The most common sources of chemical load on the body are household cleaners, personal care products, processed foods, anything artificially scented and the water we drink. Make decisions about the products you are using with the long term implications to your health and make changes towards minimising the chemicals you expose yourself to. Nutritional stress can come from eating too much of the wrong foods but also not eating enough, or often enough. Our blood sugar needs to be regulated to have the energy reserves we need throughout the day and to avoid feeling the highs and lows that go along with nutrient deficiencies, hypoglycemia and digestive problems. Eating whole foods regularly throughout the day can avoid some of these problems as low blood sugar has a big impact on how well we cope with stress. When our brain registers low blood sugars it feels deprived of energy and interprets this as an emergency causing it to respond by stimulating the adrenal glands to pump some glucose into the muscles and brain. This is when you reach for the carbs, sugary treats and caffeine to get some quickly absorbing sugars into the body. This is the hormonal and nervous system response to the drop in blood sugar and can bring about symptoms such as nervousness, anxiety, mood swings, nausea and depression. Start the day with a good breakfast and be aware of how you're feeling throughout the day to work out what's best for you. Some things I've been using at home.. My routine. My life is quite different to how it looked a month or so ago so I've needed to create a new routine for myself. That changed with daylight savings ending and will probably change again as the days get colder and shorter but for now it's working. Adapting to what I have and what I need has given some structure to my day and given me some balance. Meditation. Something I practiced but not regularly and now I can't say that I don't have time. I've made time and I'm enjoying the benefits. Water. Hydration is so important to energy levels and good health. I'm keeping my filter topped up and a water bottle close by so I can drink regularly throughout the day. Food. While groceries were low at the supermarkets a bit of creativity in the kitchen was required and with some time in the afternoons fresh food and healthy snacks has been on the menu. Essential oils. I've always used the diffuser for my essential oils and made up roller bottles for skin care and aromatics in particular so I'm enjoying some time to experiment with different blends. Exercise. I love my time at the beach with Roxy and making the most of some long walks on the beach. I've also hung up my TRX straps (which are a bit of a challenge) as well as following along with Leisurelinks online classes and a yoga practice when I need a good stretch and some mindfulness. Sleep. I've kept a regular bedtime but turned off the alarm. I'm lucky that I can make my own schedule but I seem to wake at a similar time each day, feeling refreshed. Presence and Gratitude. Some time in the garden. some time to read. watching the sunset. taking a few deep breaths at the beach. Focusing on wellness. Flower essences. A few drops when I feel my mind wander in a direction that isn't helpful. Sunshine. Vitamin D and something to smile about. Always grateful to see a blue sky. Learning. I have my kinesiology studies that I recently started but I have anatomy books, bowen therapy workshop notes, business articles and a few books put aside for when I have some time to read them. That time is now and while I don't feel any pressure to cram hours of study in I do feel like I'm making the most of this time which reduces the stress of idle time wasted. This is a time to be kind to ourselves and to each other. Becoming aware of the things in your life that make you feel good and are good for you will help you to manage these changes with a more positive outlook.
